An American alternative rock band, Marcy Playground consists of three members: John Wozniak on lead vocals and guitar, Dylan Keefe on bass, and Shlomi Lavie on drums. The group is best known for their 1997 hit "Sex and Candy," which dominated the Billboard Modern tracks chart by spending close to four months at the number one position. The song's massive success was so significant that band leader John Wozniak joked the track needed its own accountant. In 2025, Chad Childers of Loudwire recognized the band's cultural impact by including them in his list of "10 '90s Post-Grunge Bands That Should Have Been Bigger," highlighting their influence on the alternative rock landscape of that era.
