Martin Adam Friedman is an American guitarist best known for his work as the lead guitarist of thrash metal band Megadeth, a position he held from 1990 to 2000. Earlier in his career, he played alongside Jason Becker in the band Cacophony from 1986 until 1989. Beyond his band work, Friedman has released 13 solo albums and toured extensively throughout his career. Since 2003, he has resided in Tokyo, where he became a prominent media personality, appearing on over 700 Japanese television programs including Rock Fujiyama, Hebimeta-san, Kōhaku Uta Gassen, and Jukebox English. Throughout his career, Friedman has worked with several major record labels, including Avex Trax, Universal, EMI, Prosthetic, and Shrapnel Records.
