Mindbender

About

Mindbender is an LA-based duo consisting of Johann Fontamillas and Wilson Peralta who create ambient, techno, and trance music. The pair met during college and were introduced to dance music in 1989 when they attended warehouse dance parties in downtown Los Angeles. Noticing the absence of Christian input in the underground dance scene, they began experimenting with programming ideas that eventually developed into their musical project. In 1992, they contributed tracks to a project called Jyradelix through MYX Records, the dance affiliate of Frontline, collaborating with the metal and dance fusion band Mortal, which featured Jerome Fontamillas, Johann's brother. Following this early work, Mindbender continued to pursue dance music seriously and expanded their production capabilities. They eventually secured a record deal with N*SOUL Records, a label they greatly respect for its pioneering work in the industry.
