Formed in Glasgow in 1995, Mogwai are a Scottish post-rock band known for their distinctive instrumental sound. The group comprises Stuart Braithwaite on guitar and vocals, Barry Burns on guitar, piano, synthesizer and vocals, Dominic Aitchison on bass guitar, and Martin Bulloch on drums. The band's music is characterized by lengthy, guitar-based instrumental pieces that incorporate dynamic contrast, melodic bass lines, and extensive use of distortion and effects. Early in their career, Mogwai were signed to the Glasgow-based label Chemikal Underground and have been distributed by various labels including Matador in the United States and Play It Again Sam in the UK. Today, the band operates through their own label Rock Action Records in the UK and Temporary Residence Ltd. in North America. In 2021, their tenth album, As the Love Continues, achieved significant commercial success by reaching number one on the UK Albums Chart on February 26.
