Formed in 2008, Monsieur Periné is a Bogotá-based musical ensemble from Colombia known for their distinctive Afro-Colombian sound that blends Latin and European influences. Lead singer Catalina García performs in multiple languages including Spanish, French, English, and Portuguese. The group features Santiago Prieto on charango, violin, and guitar; Eva Peroni on bass; Jairo Alfonso on winds, primarily saxophone and clarinet; Abstin Caviedes on trombone and bugle; Miguel Guerra on percussion; and Darwin Paez on drums. Their musical style incorporates elements of cumbia, tango, danzón, bolero, and pop music. The ensemble's debut album in 2012 earned Colombia's national gold album award, establishing them as a significant force in contemporary Latin music. Their growing recognition culminated in 2015 when they were named best new artist at the Latin Grammy Awards.
