Formed in Peoria, Illinois in 1996, Mudvayne is an American heavy metal band known for their sonic experimentation and distinctive visual identity featuring face and body paint, masks, and uniforms. The group's lineup includes lead guitarist Greg Tribbett, drummer Matthew McDonough, lead vocalist Chad Gray, bassist Ryan Martinie, and live rhythm guitarist Marcus Rafferty. The band rose to prominence in the late-1990s Peoria underground music scene and achieved mainstream success with the single "Dig" from their debut album L.D. 50, released in 2000. Following the release of four additional albums and nearly a decade of touring, Mudvayne entered a hiatus in 2010. The band reunited in 2021 and has continued performing live, marking their return with a new song titled "Hurt People Hurt People" released on August 28, 2025, their first new material in sixteen years. Mudvayne has sold over five million records worldwide throughout their career.
