About
NanowaR of Steel is an Italian comedy heavy metal band whose name serves as a pun on the metal bands Manowar and Rhapsody of Fire. The band's music primarily focuses on satirizing "true metal" and making humorous references to and jokes about the heavy metal genre. Their work often parodies the way in which power metal bands are perceived to take themselves very seriously. In 2006, the band changed their name from Nanowar to NanowaR of Steel as a parody of the Italian power metal band Rhapsody, which changed their own name to Rhapsody of Fire following a legal dispute. On their logo, the "of Steel" portion was intentionally designed to appear quickly and carelessly scribbled behind the main name, emphasizing the afterthought nature of the addition.
