Nemophila is a genus within the flowering plant family Hydrophyllaceae. The majority of species in this genus feature the phrase "baby blue eyes" in their common names. Notable examples include N. menziesii, which carries the common name "baby blue eyes," N. parviflora, known as "smallflower baby blue-eyes," and N. spatulata, called "Sierra baby blue eyes." One exception to this naming pattern is N. maculata, whose common name is fivespot. Nemophila species are primarily native to the western United States, though certain species also inhabit Mexico and the southeastern United States. These plants are commonly available for purchase for garden cultivation purposes, with N. menziesii being the most frequently offered for sale.
