Nidhogg

In Norse mythology, Nidhogg is a Germanic dragon whose name appears in Old Norse as Níðhǫggr and in modern Icelandic as Níðhöggur. This mythological creature is said to gnaw at the roots of Yggdrasil, the world tree that holds central importance in Norse cosmology. Beyond its role as a devourer of the world tree's roots, Nidhogg is likewise associated with the dead in both Hel and Niflheim, the realms of the underworld in Norse belief. The dragon thus occupies a significant place in Germanic and Norse mythology as a creature connected to death and the foundational structure of the cosmos.
