About
Innocent Victim is the eleventh studio album by English rock band Uriah Heep, released in November 1977 through Bronze Records in the UK and Warner Bros. Records in the US. While the album failed to chart in both the US and UK markets, it achieved considerable success internationally, selling more than 100,000 copies in Germany alone and reaching number 19 in New Zealand and number 44 in Australia. The single "Free Me" became the band's most successful track in these regions, reaching number 3 in both New Zealand and South Africa, and peaking at number 9 in Australia as their only hit there. The album's cover artwork featured drummer Lee Kerslake's eyes used for the snake design, though the US release featured a different live photomontage sleeve instead. The album was remastered and reissued by Castle Communications in 1997 with two bonus tracks, followed by an expanded deluxe edition in 2004 that included three live tracks recorded during the band's 1979 European tour.
