Patty Smyth

American singer and songwriter Patty Smyth was born on June 26, 1957. She first gained national attention as the lead vocalist of the rock band Scandal before establishing herself as a solo artist. Known for her distinctive voice and new wave image, Smyth achieved broad exposure through music videos aired on MTV and other cable music video channels. Her debut solo album Never Enough was well received and produced a pair of Top 100 hits. In 1992, Smyth reached new heights with her hit single "Sometimes Love Just Ain't Enough," a duet with Don Henley of the Eagles, which peaked at number two on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. She continued to collaborate with other artists, performing and co-writing "Look What Love Has Done" with James Ingram for the 1994 film Junior. This work earned her both a Grammy Award nomination for Best Song Written for Visual Media and an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Song.
