The Poison is the debut studio album by Welsh metalcore band Bullet for My Valentine. Released on 3 October 2005 through Visible Noise Records in the UK and on 14 February 2006 in the United States through Trustkill Records, the album features 13 tracks comprising 11 new songs and two previously released tracks. The previously heard songs include "Cries in Vain," which appeared on the band's self-titled UK EP and US EP Hand of Blood, as well as "4 Words (To Choke Upon)" from the same US release. Different editions of the album contain the song "Hand of Blood," also previously heard from these EPs, replacing "Spit You Out" on certain versions. The band performed the album in its entirety for the first time in 2016. To commemorate the 20th anniversary of the album, the band released a special edition and announced The Poisoned Ascendancy Tour with Trivium, which took place in 2025 and also celebrated the 20th anniversary of Trivium's album Ascendancy.
