Prayer for Cleansing is an American metalcore band originating from Raleigh, North Carolina. The band distinguished themselves through their incorporation of extreme metal influences, particularly death metal and black metal elements, which were more prominent in their sound compared to many of their metalcore contemporaries. Beyond their musical contributions to the metalcore genre, Prayer for Cleansing served as an important early launching point for three musicians who would go on to achieve broader recognition. Paul Waggoner, Will Goodyear, and Tommy Giles Rogers all played in the band before becoming members of Between the Buried and Me, a progressive metal group that would gain significant prominence in the metal community.
