Formed in Kansas City, Missouri in 1992, Puddle of Mudd is an American rock band that has sold over seven million albums throughout their career. The group achieved their greatest commercial success with their second album, Come Clean, released in 2001. This album spawned the hit single "Blurry," which peaked at number 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 and has become the band's signature song. Come Clean sold over five million copies by 2003, establishing Puddle of Mudd as a significant force in rock music. Following this breakthrough, the band released six additional albums, with their latest being Kiss the Machine in 2025. Lead singer Wes Scantlin has remained the only consistent member throughout the band's entire history, providing continuity from their formation to the present day. In 2013, the band was featured in an NME article that examined nu-metal era bands that had faded from public consciousness.
