Pyrrhon

Pyrrhon was an Ancient Greek philosophical figure from the fourth century BCE whose teachings inspired the development of Pyrrhonism, a school of philosophical skepticism. This school, which rejects dogma and advocates the suspension of judgment over the truth of all beliefs, was formally founded by Aenesidemus in the first century BCE. The most comprehensive surviving works on Pyrrhonism come from Sextus Empiricus, who wrote in the late second century or early third century CE. These texts by Sextus Empiricus proved to be historically significant, as their publication during the Renaissance sparked a major revival of interest in Skepticism as a philosophical movement. This renewed attention to Pyrrhonist thought played a substantial role in shaping both Reformation thinking and the broader development of early modern philosophy.
