Re-Birth is associated with a 2001 Japanese horror film directed by Takashi Shimizu. The film served as the third installment in the Tomie film series, which was based on a manga of the same name by Junji Ito. The film was released in Japan on March 24, 2001, and later screened at the Manila Eiga Sai, a Japanese Film Festival held in the Philippines on September 3, 2005.
