Subhen Chatterjee is an Indian percussionist and tabla player who began his training on the tabla during childhood under the guidance of Swapan Chaudhuri. In 1985, he founded the fusion band Karma, marking a significant point in his musical career. Chatterjee has collaborated with numerous acclaimed musicians throughout his career. He accompanied vocalist Girija Devi on several recordings, including the album Songs of Varanasi released on Nimbus Records. He also worked with V.M. Bhatt and Matt Malley on the album Sleepless Nights, which was released through World Village Records. His live album Artistry, recorded in Kansas City and featuring Manilal Nag on sitar, Ramesh Mishra on sarangi, and Chatterjee himself on tabla, received significant recognition when it was nominated for a Grammy Award in 2002.
