About
Formerly known as Riot, this American heavy metal band was formed in New York City in 1975 by guitarist Mark Reale. The group achieved peak success and popularity during the early 1980s and has maintained a long-running successful career throughout the decades. Originally performing straightforward heavy metal, the band's musical style began to shift towards power metal following their 1988 release Thundersteel. In 2013, surviving members reformed the band under the new name Riot V following the death of founder, guitarist, primary songwriter and leader Mark Reale. The group is recognized by its distinctive baby seal face logo featured on its album covers.
