Formed in 2019, Royel Otis is an Australian indie pop duo from Sydney comprised of Royel Maddell and Otis Pavlovic. The band's sound draws from a diverse range of genres including indie rock, new wave, pop rock, post-punk, and psychedelic rock. Before releasing their debut studio album, Pratts & Pain, in February 2024, the duo put out three EPs, including one titled Sofa Kings. The band achieved significant recognition at the 2024 ARIA Music Awards, winning four awards. Their sophomore studio album, Hickey, was released on August 22, 2025.
