Samurai Pizza Cats is a Japanese anime series produced by Tatsunoko Production that originally aired in Japan on TV Tokyo from February 1, 1990, to February 12, 1991, spanning 54 episodes total. The series is known for its distinctive cultural humor, featuring Japanese puns, pop culture references, and fourth-wall breaking comedy. Saban Entertainment acquired the North American rights in 1991 and produced a 52-episode English adaptation of the show. The English dub initially aired on YTV in Canada from 1992 to 1993 before later airing in US syndication from 1996 to 1997. Saban's distribution rights expired on November 12, 2000. The series has since become available on multiple streaming platforms, including Crunchyroll starting December 27, 2015, Amazon Prime in late 2018, Tubi in 2020, and Peacock in 2021. The creators had planned a spin-off series titled Kyatto Keisatsu Beranmee, though its development status remains unclear.
