Alejandro Rose-Garcia, known professionally as Shakey Graves, is an American musician and actor from Austin, Texas, born on June 4, 1987. His musical style blends elements of blues, folk, country, and rock and roll into a distinctive sound. The stage name Shakey Graves has an unconventional origin story dating back to 2007 at the Old Settler's Music Festival, where a stranger under the influence of LSD inspired the name through cryptic utterances about "spooky wagons." Following this encounter, Rose-Garcia and his friends engaged in a playful tradition of assigning each other Native American guide names around a campfire. After a particularly inspired evening of musical performance, he chose to adopt and keep the Shakey Graves name. In April 2023, Rose-Garcia married Stephanie Hunt, a fellow musician, and the couple welcomed their first child, a daughter, in 2024.
