Indie rock band Slaughter Beach, Dog emerged from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, formed in 2014 by Jake Ewald, the former co-lead vocalist of Modern Baseball. What began as one of Ewald's solo projects during his time with Modern Baseball developed into a full group following Modern Baseball's indefinite hiatus. The original lineup consisted of Ewald on vocals and guitar, alongside bassist Ian Farmer, also from Modern Baseball, guitarist Nick Harris from All Dogs, and drummer Zack Robbins from Superheaven. Nick Harris departed from the band in 2020, marking a change in the group's composition since its inception.
