Sonata Arctica

Hailing from the Finnish town of Kemi, Sonata Arctica is a power metal band that evolved from their earlier incarnation as a hard rock group. Originally formed under the name Tricky Beans, the band subsequently changed their name to Tricky Means before finally settling on Sonata Arctica when they transitioned to the power metal genre. The current lineup features drummer Tommy Portimo, lead singer Tony Kakko, keyboardist Henrik Klingenberg, guitarist Elias Viljanen, and bassist Pasi Kauppinen. Throughout the band's history, all musicians except Portimo have also served as backing vocalists. As of 2024, Sonata Arctica has released eleven full-length studio albums across various record labels, including three albums through Spinefarm Records, eight through Nuclear Blast, and one through Atomic Fire.
