Steep Canyon Rangers is an American bluegrass band based in Asheville and Brevard, North Carolina. Originally formed in 2000, the band gained widespread recognition beginning in 2009 through collaborations with actor and banjoist Steve Martin. The group initially performed as a quintet for nearly a decade before expanding to include Martin as a sextet member for intermittent touring, and the band continues to perform in both configurations. The band has recorded nine solo albums and two collaborative albums with Steve Martin. Their 2012 collaboration with Martin, titled Rare Bird Alert, received a Grammy Award nomination for Best Bluegrass Album. In 2013, Steep Canyon Rangers' solo album Nobody Knows You earned the Grammy Award for Best Bluegrass Album. That same year, Steve Martin and the band began performing with singer-songwriter Edie Brickell after Martin and Brickell co-wrote and recorded the song Love Has Come for You.
