Sunami

About

Formed in San Jose, California in 2019, Sunami is an American hardcore punk band that began as a short-lived joke project featuring members from various San Francisco Bay Area hardcore groups. The band initially sought to parody the ignorant style prevalent in many hardcore bands, releasing their 2019 demo Demonstration with this satirical intent. However, after their violent debut live performance garnered significant attention, Sunami decided to continue beyond their originally planned timeframe. Since then, the band has released four EPs and their debut self-titled album on June 14, 2023. A 2023 Revolver article recognized them as part of "the upper echelon of bands dominating the hardcore zeitgeist."
