Tankard

About

Founded in Frankfurt in 1982, Tankard is a German thrash metal band that has become one of the most distinctive voices in the genre. Alongside Kreator, Destruction, and Sodom, the band is widely recognized as part of the "Big Four" of Teutonic thrash metal. What sets Tankard apart from its contemporaries is its thematic approach to songwriting. While the other members of the Teutonic thrash metal elite focus on topics such as death, politics, violence, and anti-fascism, Tankard has maintained a unique stylistic identity centered on alcohol reverence. Throughout their career spanning decades, the band has remained consistently committed to thrash metal as their primary musical style, establishing themselves as influential figures in the German metal scene and beyond.
