About
An American musical duo from Boston, Massachusetts, The Dresden Dolls were formed in 2000. The group consists of Amanda Palmer, who provides lead vocals and piano along with keyboards, harmonica, and ukulele, and Brian Viglione, who plays drums and backing vocals with additional guitar and bass guitar contributions. The duo describes their musical style as "Brechtian punk cabaret," a term invented by Palmer because she was concerned that the press would create a name involving the word gothic. The Dresden Dolls' aesthetic exemplifies the dark cabaret genre.
