The HU

About

The HU is a Mongolian folk metal band formed in 2016 in Ulaanbaatar. The band incorporates traditional Mongolian instrumentation including the morin khuur, tovshuur, and throat singing, calling their style "hunnu rock," inspired by the Xiongnu, an ancient nomadic empire known as Hünnü in Mongolian. Some of their lyrics feature old Mongolian war cries and poetry in the Mongolian language. The band consists of Galbadrakh Tsendbaatar, Nyamjantsan Galsanjamts, Enkhsaikhan Batjargal, and Temuulen Naranbaatar, and has released two studio albums: The Gereg and Rumble of Thunder.
