Table Mountain is a flat-topped mountain that forms a prominent landmark overlooking Cape Town in South Africa. Known in Khoekhoe as Huriǂoaxa, meaning "sea-emerging," the mountain rises approximately 1,000 meters above the surrounding city. The mountain is home to 2,285 plant species, with around 80% classified as fynbos, a term meaning "fine bush" in Afrikaans. Table Mountain National Park, which encompasses the mountain, is the most visited national park in South Africa, attracting 4.2 million visitors annually. The area hosts a significant array of mostly endemic flora and fauna. Visitors can reach the summit via cableway or hiking, with numerous steep and rocky pathways available for those attempting the ascent. The mountain forms part of lands historically inhabited by Khoe-speaking clans, including the !Uriǁʼaes, also known as the "High Clan." The hiking experience requires fitness, preparation, and proper equipment due to the challenging terrain and elevation gain.
