Verboten is a 1959 American romantic war drama film written, produced, and directed by Samuel Fuller. The film stars James Best, Susan Cummings, Tom Pittman, and Harold Daye. It was the last film produced by RKO Radio Pictures, created through a co-production between the studio and Fuller's own Globe Enterprises. The movie was filmed at the RKO Forty Acres backlot, with distribution handled by Columbia Pictures. This film marked the first of Samuel Fuller's works to be set during World War II, a conflict in which Fuller himself served as a veteran. Prior to making Verboten, Fuller had drawn on his military experience to create films about the Korean War and the French Indochina War. Raymond Harvey served as the film's technical adviser and had previously collaborated with Fuller on the 1951 film Fixed Bayonets.
