Vertical Horizon is an American alternative rock band formed in Washington, D.C. in 1991. The group was started by vocalists and guitarists Matt Scannell and Keith Kane when they were students at Georgetown University. What began as a duo eventually expanded into a full four-piece band. Since the mid-2000s, the band has experienced multiple line-up changes, with Scannell remaining as the only constant member throughout the group's history. The band has released seven studio albums since 1992. Their third album, Everything You Want, became their most successful work and was certified double Platinum by the RIAA. The album's title track became the band's signature song and reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2000, marking the only number-one single in their career. Everything You Want also produced two additional Hot 100 entries with the songs "You're a God" and "Best I Ever Had (Grey Sky Morning)".
