Vilamoura is a coastal luxury resort located in the Loulé municipality within Portugal's Algarve region. As one of the three corners of Algarve's Golden Triangle, it represents a significant destination in the area. The resort comprises one of the largest single tourist complexes in Europe, spanning approximately 2,000 hectares of land. Faro Airport serves as the nearest airport for visitors traveling to the area. Historically, Vilamoura hosted the annual Almond Blossom Cross Country competition from 1996 to 2003, establishing itself as a venue for athletic events. The same course was selected to host the 2000 IAAF World Cross Country Championships, demonstrating its prominence on the international sporting calendar.
