Wardruna

Formed in 2003, Wardruna is a Norwegian music group founded by Einar Selvik, Gaahl, and Lindy-Fay Hella. The ensemble creates musical interpretations of Norse cultural and esoteric traditions, drawing heavily from Nordic heritage through both historical and traditional instruments. Their sonic palette includes deer-hide frame drums, flutes, kraviklyra, mouth harp, goat horn, and lur, complemented by non-traditional instruments such as the Finnish jouhikko and unconventional sound sources including trees, rocks, water, and torches. The group's name, Wardruna, translates to "the guardian of secrets" or "she who whispers." To date, they have released six full-length albums, with the first three based on Norse runes and the fourth drawing from the sayings of Odin found in the Völuspá and other ancient Norse sources.
