Wayside is an early version of the band As Friends Rust. The name Wayside has been used across various media and contexts, including as a reference to trackside objects in railroad terminology. The term has also been associated with commercial establishments, most notably the Wayside Restaurant, an eatery located in Vermont, USA. Additionally, Wayside is known from the children's book franchise that began with a 1978 book written by Louis Sachar. This original book was later adapted into a 2005 animated film that offered a loose interpretation of the source material. The Wayside franchise expanded further with a 2007 cartoon series that served as a continuation following the events of the 2005 film. In general terms, a wayside can refer to a rest area, reflecting the common usage of the word in everyday language.
