An American vocal group from Los Angeles, California, The Whispers have been scoring hit records since the late 1960s. They are best known for their two number-one R&B singles, "And the Beat Goes On" released in 1979 and "Rock Steady" from 1987. Throughout their career, The Whispers have achieved remarkable chart success, scoring 15 top-ten R&B singles and 8 top-ten R&B albums. Two of their albums, titled The Whispers and Love Is Where You Find It, reached the number-one position on the R&B charts. The group has earned significant recognition from the Recording Industry Association of America, with two platinum albums and five gold albums to their name.
