Hailing from Manchester, Winterfylleth is an English black metal band that emerged in 2006. Over their career, they have established themselves as a significant presence in both the underground metal scene in England and the international metal community, having released nine studio albums to date. The band identifies their sound as "English Heritage Black Metal," a distinctive approach that has drawn comparisons to fellow English black metal act Wodensthrone, with whom they share similar lyrical and aesthetic sensibilities. The band's name derives from an Old English term, Winterfylleth, which means "Winter Full Moon" in modern English and refers to the occurrence of the first full moon of winter.
