X-Cops

About

A side project composed of members from the heavy metal band Gwar and their extended family of musicians, X-Cops features performers in police uniforms, each with their own distinct character. The group's style has been described as alternative metal. X-Cops released the album You Have The Right To Remain Silent on Metal Blade Records in 1995, which featured a cover of Deep Purple's "Highway Star" with lyrics altered to match the album's theme. The band also released a 7" single on Man's Ruin Records in 1996 containing the songs "Junkie" and "Beat You Down," with the former marking the first released vocal performance by Gwar and X-Cops guitarist Michael Derks.
