My first big metal show ever was Black Sabbath w/Dio at the Long Beach Arena in ’82. I saw you for the first time at the Us Festival in ’83.

I met you a few times and had lunch with you and the band in the hair metal years. It was impossible to understand you, but Zakk interpreted. Fun story. We were both in a practice studio in the valley. When I walked past your door there was a guitar tech in there working on one of Zakk’s guitars. We were talking shop. I got to play a couple of the guitars. Later that same day, you and the band were playing when I walked past the open door. I look inside and that same “guitar tech” is playing a ripping solo with you right next to him. He looked up at me and laughed. Zakk let me think he was Zakk’s guitar tech and play his guitars. It was great because at the time I was a right-handed guitar player working for a left-handed guitarist.

I got to see Black Sabbath, with you, with my son at Ozzfest Meets Knotfest in 2016 at the same venue as the Us Festival decades before. You had a terrible cold but were still great! Every Sabbath/Ozzy show was amazing!
