FAQs

Setlist Guy Methodology:
Tours: To create the setlist playlists, we look at the most recent shows of the artists and import those setlists, then combine them in the order that the bands will likely appear. When you see other artists songs in the middle of a set, we’ve included original songs that are covered by the band but have not been released by the performing artist.
Once a tour has started, we try to update the setlist playlists to better match what the bands are playing on this specific tour.

When there is no setlist information for a band, mostly newer/upcoming bands; we will contact them to get setlist info. When we hear back, we build a setlist based on what they give us. If not, we will create a possible setlist from their Spotify top-10.

We will add new singles to upcoming and current setlist playlists if they were just released or if the band has not played any shows since the single was released.

Festivals: Festival setlist playlists are usually alphabetical to allow users to quickly find the bands they want to hear. Festival sets are almost always a bit shorter than headline shows or opener slots on regular tours. We use the setlist from these shows; therefore, a band may have eight tracks in the festival setlist playlist but only play five songs at the show. If the band has recently played other festivals, we will use that setlist.

Special Shows: In the case of one-off shows, shows with known special guests, benefit concerts, etc.; the setlist playlists may include sets of artists, hits of the artists and special guests, cover songs that guests artist have performed that are somehow related to the show. We love to get insider information and fan insights leading up to these shows! Fan interaction only can make the setlist playlists better.

As noted in the FAQ section, if you notice any mistakes in our setlist playlists, on the website, in a post or if you have insight about a setlist; please contact us via DM in FB, IG, TikTok, X or email info@setlistguy.com.

SetlistGuy.com is US-based (out of California), yet attempts to make content as international as possible. There are many big festivals and hundreds of tours every year. For this reason, not all international bands/tours/festivals are included in our artist roadmap. If you believe an artist, tour or festival needs or deserves a setlist playlist, please contact us at info@setlistguy.com.

You won’t “see” any setlists on this site. SetlistGuy.com is all for listening to setlists. Click on the streaming service icons to load the setlist playlist in your streaming app. You can see and listen to the setlists there.

Setlist information is gathered from researching a variety of sources, including photos of setlists people send in from shows attended, setlist images posted online, online portals, and setlists sent in by the bands themselves.

Because of limitations in the various streaming apps, updating setlist playlists is tough. Spotify and Apple playlist are updated when changes to the lineups occur, so their links stay the same. Amazon, YouTube and Tidal playlists have to be replaced and the links change.

You can get the updated Amazon, YouTube and Tidal setlist playlists by navigating to the show and clicking on the appropriate streaming icon to load it in your app.

At this time, Setlist Guy primarily focuses on creating the most requested setlist playlists to add to the setlist playlist library. Contact Setlist Guy regarding custom setlist playlist requests at info@setlistguy.com.

In the rare occasion where no setlist information is available, Setlist Guy creates manufactured setlists from the setlist band’s tracks in Spotify. In those instances, Setlist Guy also reaches out to bands/artists to see if they would like to provide a setlist or song order. When bands/artists respond to requests, their setlist playlists are amended.

This happens and is often just a simple mistake. Let us know.

If an artist, band, or band members are racist, sexist, homophobic, have credible rape/sexual abuse allegations, are involved in spreading hurtful misinformation, condoning murdering civilians and/or children, or are Trump supporters, they may be left out of setlists or get banned from the platform. If an artist has been elitist, made disparaging remarks about other artists or their ego is out-of-control, Setlist Guy may also choose to leave such artists out of any setlist playlists. And though Setlist Guy is a supporter of free speech, he reminds those who may take issue with this policy that SetlistGuy.com is a business, and as such not limited by the First Amendment, nor obligated to uphold the tenets of free speech.

If you think there is a mistake in a setlist playlist (i.e. lullaby, synth or Muzak versions of a song; wrong band of the same name; a bad, live version when the studio version is available), please contact Setlist Guy at info@setlistguy.com.

Setlist Guy loves music and new talent. If an unlikely setlist playlist exists in the library, it may have been created out of interest for new talent, respect for an existing artist, in memoriam of an artist, or it may have been an experiment to gage response to that particular genre. Custom orders may also get placed in the current library, or in special circumstances requests from friends may get included.

The times you see a song by a band, other than the setlist band, on the setlist is because that band’s song is performed as a cover by the setlist band. If the setlist band hasn’t released an official version of the song themselves, the original version is placed in the setlist playlist. Additionally, Setlist Guy believes in sharing love and recognizing OG bands for their contributions and inspiration.

If your band is compliant with SetlistGuy.com’s terms of service (not racist, sexist, homophobic, don’t have credible rape/sexual abuse allegations, not involved in spreading hurtful misinformation, not condoning murdering civilians and/or children, or are not a Trump supporter), it could be an honest mistake that your band was not included in a setlist playlist. You are welcome to contact info@setlistguy.com to request inclusion if you meet SetlistGuy.com’s terms of service.

Setlist playlists are created from the latest setlist information available. Due to the pandemic, some bands haven’t toured or given concerts since 2019 or 2020, making some setlists appear out-of-date. When a band has released a new single, EP or album, Setlist Guy adds tracks to their setlist playlist believed to be included in the upcoming live tour or festival setlist.
If Setlist Guy doesn’t know about a band’s new tracks, they won’t appear in the setlist. Your contributions and knowledge of new releases are always welcome. Email info@setlistguy.com to submit setlist contributions for consideration.

At present time, Setlist Guy primarily focuses on metal, metalcore, nu-metal, some hardcore and punk. Setlist Guy covers every Danny Wimmer Presents festival. If a band’s tour or festival is outside of these genres, it may not be included in our current coverage map. You are welcome to contact info@setlistguy.com to request inclusion, though keep in mind that bands currently being covered fall within the above-mentioned guidelines.
